Paul Ritter Honored as Legend

On March 30th, 2019, Paul J. Ritter, President and CEO of Cumberland Mutual, was honored as a 2019 Cumberland County Legend. This event recognizes those individuals who have passionately served the community making a lasting impact throughout Cumberland County. The benefactor of the event is the Complete Care Family Health Foundation who provides underserved patients in the community with high quality, affordable, and accessible health and dental care. 

Cumberland Mourns The Passing of Leo Hogan

We are saddened to learn that former CEO/President and Director Leo Hogan passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.  There will be a viewing held at Freitag Funeral Home, 137 West Commerce Street, Bridgeton, NJ on Sunday evening, December 9, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.   Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at St. Teresa’s Church at the Parish of the Holy Cross, 46 Central Avenue, Bridgeton, New Jersey followed by a mass to be held at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Trench Road, Bridgeton, NJ

Leo was the face of The Cumberland Insurance Group for many years and was instrumental in growing Cumberland to a regional insurance company.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cumberland Sponsors The Trusted Choice Make-A-Wish Outing

On Monday April 30, 2018, The Cumberland Insurance Group sponsored the Trusted Choice Charity Golf Outing at Trump National, Colts Neck. The Trusted Choice Annual Charity Golf Outing benefits Big I New Jersey’s official charity, Make-A-Wish New Jersey. Each year, this event raises a significant amount of money to donate to Make-A-Wish New Jersey. Steve Catranis from Cumberland received the Chairman’s Citation from Jerry Ford at the dinner following the outing. Thanks to all that participated in this great event!

Cumberland Hosts Bridgeton High School Students

Cumberland recently hosted 16 students and chaperones from Bridgeton High School’s Early College program.  The freshman students are earning high school credits and college credits simultaneously and upon graduation will have both a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree from Cumberland County College.  Students had the opportunity to meet representatives of six different insurance career areas to learn about the job duties and requirements and to discuss the future of the career.

Cumberland Receives the CASA of CGS Angel of the Year Award

Cumberland is proud to have received the CASA Angel of the Year Award. The CASA Angel of the Year award recognizes an outstanding organization whose unselfish and dedicated service has made a significant difference in their community and in the lives of children. This past year, Cumberland has made significant contributions towards promoting the best interests of abused and neglected children and providing community support for CASA of CGS and the volunteers.

Cumberland Sponsors CASA 5K Run

On September 24th, The Cumberland Insurance Group sponsored the CASA 5K run held in Sewell NJ. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties is an organization of volunteer advocates who stand up on behalf of abused and neglected children. Over 1,000 abused and neglected children in the three counties are currently waiting on the critical voice of a volunteer advocate.

Two employees of The Cumberland Insurance Group participated in the run. Glenn Watkins and Colin Scull finished 9th & 10th respectively. 

Ron Jaworski Speaks at Cumberland’s Agency Council Meeting

Former Philadelphia Eagles QB and ESPN Commentator, Ron Jaworski, spoke at our Company Agency Council Meeting on May 18, 2016. The meeting was held at Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove Township, NJ. Mr. Jaworski, “Jaws”, spoke to a small group of agents and company employees on a wide variety of topics including local community issues, The Philadelphia Eagles, and other NFL items that are currently in the news. He shared some stories of his playing days, signed autographs, and posed for pictures. It was very entertaining and informative for all.
